To access this dialog:

This dialog is displayed when the create-plot-view command is used. It allows you to select the type of projection you intend to generate in the Plots window.

All displayed 3D windows are listed at the top of the panel. You can choose to create a plot projection from any 3D view.

There are two types of plot projection that can be created. Select from either:

  • 2D Overlays: plot projections generated with this option will be of the static type, that is, a projection that represents the 3D data using legacy Plot window controls.
  • 3D Overlays: a 3D plot projection is more dynamic than a 2D overlay;

Click OK to generate a plot sheet and plot projection. The initial view in the generated plot sheet will be as seen in the 3D window.

Tip: If you're not in Page Layout Mode, use "za" to maximize the view of any selected projection.

Tip: Use the mouse wheel to zoom either the selected page (if no projection is selected) or the contents of a projection. The view will always zoom around the position of the cursor.

Regardless of the type of overlays you have chosen to create, an attempt will be made to retain 3D window overlay formatting wherever possible, and also view information such as direction and clipping.

If you want to use your current view projection in the primary 3D view using the projection's right-click menu. In Page Layout mode select 3D Projection | Copy to | 3D View. This option is also available for static view projections.
